Meetings

Meeting 1

The first working meeting of the Project is of critical importance to lay the foundation of the project and ensure its successful progress.

In this meeting held under the coordination of Bulgaria, the purpose, scope and objectives of the project were discussed in detail. Team members were informed about their duties and responsibilities and the roles of each were clarified. Additionally, the timeline and key milestones have been determined, which is essential for monitoring the project and controlling its progress. Risks and potential obstacles were also discussed at this stage and preventive strategies were developed for them.

The first meeting determined the team’s communication and cooperation methods and laid the groundwork for the coordinated and harmonious execution of the project.

Meeting 2

Conducting research on countries’ water policies and presenting the findings to the public holds significant importance, especially in the context of the online meeting coordinated by Serbia. Water is a critical resource, and effective management and policy-making are essential for ensuring its sustainable use and availability. By examining different water policies, researchers can identify best practices, highlight areas for improvement, and foster knowledge exchange between countries. Publicly sharing these insights raises awareness about water management challenges and solutions, encouraging informed citizen participation and advocacy. It also promotes transparency and accountability in policy-making, ensuring that water resources are managed equitably and sustainably for the benefit of all. Ultimately, such research contributes to global efforts in addressing water scarcity, enhancing resilience to climate change, and achieving sustainable development goals.

Meeting 3

International cooperation in the field of environmental education with the participation of representatives from Bulgaria, Greece, Türkiye, Serbia, Italy and Portugal

In the period 14-16 March 2023 the first workshop of the project “Alarm Rings for All of Us: Save Water!” was held in the city of Alijo, Portugal.

Project partners from Bulgaria, Türkiye, Greece, Serbia, Italy and Portugal held a series of team meetings and discussions. As a consequence, they nominated and systematized the main goals, objectives and expected results of the final product, which is related to the environmental culture of the student community. In this regard, a curriculum on ecology, conservation and the importance of water for humanity was developed, applicable to the following subjects: biology and health education, geography and economics, chemistry and environmental protection, history and civilizations.

For this purpose, the partners from Serbia – Pedagogical Society – Belgrade, conducted a training course on curriculum development. The topics, materials and tasks that will develop students’ skills were discussed in detail. Particular attention was paid to the structure and the way of working of the school built near the town. The main objective of the seminar was to focus on the work of the hydroelectric power plant “Foz Tua”.

Meeting 4

Team group research and discussion in school on water conservation and water reuse are crucial for fostering environmental awareness and sustainable habits among students. Such activities teach students the finite nature of water resources and the importance of preserving them.

Working in teams, students enhance their problem-solving, collaboration, and communication skills while exploring various water-saving and reuse methods. Discussions encourage the exchange of diverse perspectives and creative solutions, strengthening students’ critical thinking abilities. By raising awareness about water issues within the school community, students can extend their knowledge and influence to broader audiences.

Ultimately, promoting water conservation and reuse through group research and discussion cultivates informed, responsible individuals who contribute to building a more sustainable future.

Meeting 5

The meeting, organized to evaluate the environmental research studies coordinated by Greece, is of great importance to identify environmental problems and develop effective solutions. This meeting provides a comprehensive analysis of research results and helps shape environmental policies based on concrete data. Feedback from survey respondents helps understand both local and global environmental challenges, facilitating the creation of more effective strategies. Additionally, the meeting encourages collaboration and knowledge sharing among stakeholders, ensuring collective efforts towards common goals. By raising environmental awareness and informing sustainable development initiatives, this evaluation meeting plays an important role in ensuring future environmental policies are more efficient and effective.

Meeting 6

Second meeting of the international project “Alarm Rings for All of Us: Save Water!”

From 8 to 13 May 2023 in Italy, the second workshop of the project “Alarm Rings for All of Us: Save Water!”

Partners from Greece, Türkiye, Serbia, Italy, Portugal and Bulgaria discussed the causes of water pollution and possible solutions to the problem in each country as well as globally. Water maps of the partner countries were produced and presented. A draft curriculum was created to be implemented in the specialised classes of the educational institutions in the cooperating countries, which have built a comprehensive scientific team. The plan for the development of the curriculum topics, which is the main product of the project, was unified.

Environmental topics, communication with a wider range of people familiar with the issues, practical knowledge and skills are the focus of the preparation of the students of Georgi Izmirliev School. In this case, the project will help to draw on the experience of other countries and adapt it to our realities.

Meeting 7

We conducted period evaluation, which is a critical tool to evaluate the performance and progress of our project over a certain period of time. In this meeting, we analyzed the extent to which the goals were achieved and revealed the successes and shortcomings. At the same time, by measuring the effectiveness and efficiency of the work carried out, we gained valuable information for future steps. While period evaluation encourages team members to receive feedback and improve their performance, it also provides managers with a solid basis for making strategic decisions. This process, which allows early detection of problems and development of solutions, contributes to increasing overall success and ensuring continuous development. As a result, period evaluation is an indispensable practice for sustainable success and growth.

Meeting 8

The importance of teacher training in the project cannot be denied, because it directly affects the quality of education and student success. Effective teacher training coordinated by Serbia played a useful role in improving the pedagogical skills of educators and making them knowledgeable about the latest teaching methodologies and technologies. This enables teachers to deliver more engaging and effective lessons, adapt their strategies to meet diverse learning needs, and create a more inclusive and supportive classroom environment. Continuing professional development increases teachers’ motivation and job satisfaction, encouraging them to be more committed to their roles. Well-trained teachers inspire and empower students, contributing significantly to their academic success and personal development. As a result, investing in teacher training within the scope of the project ensures the establishment of a high-quality, sustainable education system.

Meeting 9

Third workshop of the project Alarm Rings for All of Us: Save Water!

Partners from the six countries participated in the third workshop of the Alarm Rings for All of Us: Save Water! project, which took place on the island of Chios from 11 to 15 March 2024.

The aim of the project is to alert the public about the problems related to the protection of water resources and search for ways to solve them. Partners from Bulgaria, Greece, Turkey, Serbia, Italy and Portugal developed a mobile app to measure the water footprint. Difficulties faced by local residents in obtaining drinking water were presented through a short screening by the students of the host school. An Escape Room-type game was prepared that could find application in chemistry and E&S and physics classes at the junior high and high school levels. Measures taken by partners to address water loss in schools were discussed. Work is ongoing on the final product, the development of a curriculum suitable for elective classes. Its resources are applicable to biology, chemistry, physics, geography and history classes.
